October 21, 2004 Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. Notification of Decision on Fiscal 2004 Interim Dividend Payment At a meeting of the Board of Directors of Mitsubishi Rayon Company, Ltd. held on October 21, 2004, a decision was taken regarding the per-share amount of interim dividend to be paid for fiscal 2004. Details are as follows: At the time of the announcement of the Company’s settlement of accounts for fiscal 2003, on May 10, 2004, the Company announced that the fiscal 2004 interim divided would, in all probability, be set somewhere between ¥3.00 per share at minimum and ¥4.00 per share at maximum. As the Company's business performance for the first half of fiscal 2004 was approximately in line with our projections, we have now decided to set the interim dividend payment at ¥3.50 per share.    Regarding the fiscal 2004 term-end dividend, an announcement will be made simultaneously with the announcement of the interim accounts settlement on November 10, 2004.    For your reference, the interim dividend payment for the previous business term, fiscal 2003, was ¥3.00 per share.
