As a member of the global chemical industry, Mitsubishi Rayon signed a declaration of support for the Responsible Care Global Charter in August 2009. The Company has now been certified under the Charter by the Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG) of the International Council of Chemical Associations.

Undertaken by chemical companies, Responsible Care activities encompass voluntary, continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance as well as public disclosure and dialogue, regarding all stages of the chemical substance lifecycle from development through manufacture, distribution, application, final consumption and waste disposal. The movement was launched in 1985 in Canada. In Japan, the Japan Responsible Care Council was established within the Japan Chemical Industry Association in 1995. It has launched HSE activities covering the whole chemical industry in Japan. Mitsubishi Rayon has been a member since its founding.

The RCLG, which coordinates Responsible Care activities on a global scale, compiled the Responsible Care Global Charter in 2006, to further step up the sector's global commitment in this area. The Charter is designed to give impetus to global Responsible Care activities through joint endeavors by chemistry industry associations and individual companies in each country. The RCLG has urged the 150 top international chemical companies, and many other lower-tier member companies, to comply with basic Responsible Care principles. Mitsubishi Rayon agrees with its objectives, and has signed a declaration of support.
